The Archie seeks to replicate the wild, remote toughness of Oscars100 Hut 2 Hut, regarded as Australia’s hardest 100km ultra. Set on sections of the same course, it offers up no less a fearsome running challenge encompassing half the distance and a touch over half the ascent profile of the full Hut 2 Hut course.
The Archie also provides a ‘stepping-stone’ experience for those seeking a taste of what Hut 2 Hut is all about, and potentially looking to qualify for the solo 100 category in the following year.
The course has been specifically chosen to be arduous and potentially uncomfortable in parts, to replicate the longer course conditions. It is remote, technical in parts and still requires specific training and a high level of determination and preparation to finish. As with Hut 2 Hut, it is designed to push participants to their limit and make them feel uncomfortable (to replicate how a person living with autism feels daily).
