The Course

Introduction

BELLAS 10km

The baby sister to Oscars 100KM and Archies 50KM, Bellas 10 has been created to offer a small (and tasty) bite of the Hut 2 Hut event experience.

The 10km course is the perfect opportunity for families, kids and friends of long course participants to enjoy the village trails of Mt Buller while challenging themselves at least in small part, to a little ‘vert’ action including a mid-run summit of Mt Buller (1780 metres above sea level – but don’t worry you begin at 1590 metres and with undulations it’s ‘only’ a total of 360m of ‘up’).

The course begins under the Hut 2 Hut arch in the centre of Mt Buller Village, before dropping off the southern flank picking up trails including famed Gang Gangs and Split Rock mountain bike single track. Village Trail is then used to track up towards the summit, the view en route knocking you breathless with vistas across to the ‘big ridges’: The Bluff and Crosscut where 100km participants have been pushing their endurance limits.

For Bellas runners, it’s a shorter but still sweat inducing climb up to the Buller peak where 360-degree views await and then the bolt on back down, eventually to the finish arch in the Village and a well-earned welcome from spectators.

Bellas 10km is open to competitors of any age (please note the course is not pram, bike, scooter or wheel chair friendly) and you have 2.5 hours to complete the course. We want as many family and friends groups as possible to join us at this family friendly event and enjoy what Mt Buller has to offer in the summer. As this is an open age event, run in a mountain location, kids 8 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. A mobile phone is mandatory on course, and we get it that not all kids will have one, so the parent or guardian needs to be carrying the phone.

You never know. Maybe next year you’ll eye Archies 50km? It’s only an extra 40km…
